Moredun is committed to promoting public understanding and appreciation of science.
Whether this is explaining the benefits of our research to society or promoting the importance of science in general, public engagement forms an important part of our knowledge exchange agenda.
Our Communications Team are involved in a number of initiatives in this area, ably and enthusiastically supported by the scientific staff:
Enlightenment
As part of the knowledgescotland project, Moredun has developed a photographic exhibition inspired by scientific research being conducted at the Scottish Research Institutes.
The exhibition, called Enlightenment [1], features a creative mix of arts and science images by Scottish photographer David McIntyre. Enlightenment aims to provoke curiosity and bring scientific research to the public’s attention.
Attendance at science festivals and agricultural shows
Our attendance at science festivals and agricultural shows across the UK raises the awareness of the relevance of our work to people’s lives. For further information please visit our forthcoming events section [2].
Education exhibits and resources
We believe that it is vitally important that school children are actively encouraged to get involved in science. With this in mind our Education Group develop exhibitions and interactive displays for science festivals and events.
Our exhibits aim to enhance children’s curiosity and get them involved in science. They can also provide teachers with resources and lesson ideas to bring topical science to life in the classroom. For more information please click here [3].
